Brendan Morris - Chief Executive Officer

Mr Morris was appointed CEO in January 2008 having joined Plantic in 2004 as Finance Director and Chief Operating Officer. During his time at Plantic, Mr. Morris has played an instrumental role in Plantic’s commercial and development agreements with Amcor, DuPont, National Starch and Bemis. He was also intimately involved in three capital raisings, including a successful listing on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange.

Prior to joining Plantic, Mr Morris spent seven years with Basell Polyolefins as CFO for their Flexible Film and Resin businesses in Australia and Thailand. Basell is the world’s largest producer of polypropylene and advanced polyolefins products, a leading supplier of polyethylene and catalysts, and a global leader in the development and licensing of polypropylene and polyethylene processes. During the same period, Mr Morris was also a Board Director of PolyPacifc (a resin compounding business) with operations in Australia and Malaysia.

Prior to joining Basell Mr Morris was CFO of APV’s Global Contracting and Engineering business based in London and before that in strategy, commercial and financial management roles with APV Sales and Engineering business based in Australia and then in Denmark.

Prior to his management career in commerce, Mr Morris was a senior accountant with KPMG in Melbourne. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Deakin University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Nick McCaffrey - Chief Technology Officer

Mr McCaffrey has 25 years of experience in the development and commercialisation of complex, high technology, product and process development projects in the plastics industry. During his career, Mr. McCaffrey has worked in a number of areas within the plastics industry, including biodegradable materials, precision optical materials, protective and decorative coatings, injection molded part design and manufacturing process simulation.

Mr McCaffrey joined Plantic in 2005, and during this time has been responsible for the development and production of biodegradable resin formulations used in films and injection molding, starch extrusion technology and scale-up. He is currently responsible for all technology development projects within Plantic, which includes the areas of starch processing, new product development and IP management.

Prior to joining Plantic, Mr McCaffrey was a Research Manager for Sola Optical (now part of Carl Zeiss Vision), a major manufacture of spectacle lenses, where he was responsible for product and process development in the areas of Polycarbonate lens manufacture and production of coating systems for anti reflection and scratch resistant coatings.

Mr McCaffrey also has extensive experience in product development and part design, and worked with Moldflow (now part of Autodesk) on process simulation and design of injection molded components for clients such as Bosch, Black & Decker and AT&T.

Mr McCaffrey holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Applied Chemistry – Honours) degree from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Technology Management from the University of New South Wales. He is a Chartered Chemist (RACI) and a Senior Member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He is an author of a number of patents in the areas of material formulation and processing, as well as a number of papers on polymer processing.
